What a crazy morning I had! I was on the bus that I take every morning when the bus driver pulled over to the side of the road.
He said "hey guys I'm feeling crook." Next thing I know he just slumped over the steering wheel! I jumped up with my host sister Ash and ran over to see if he was ok. We both saw that he wasn't and I had Ash call 000 for an ambulance.
I was checking to see if he was okay, while Ash was on the phone with the ambulance. Then a very nice lady came over and got on the bus and made sure he was ok. Ash stayed online with the medics and I called my school and Ash got all the kids to the back of the bus so the medics would have enough room.
After that I made sure they had a buddy system, a little kid with a big kid. The kids are from a ton of different schools on my bus. So I took my phone and called all of the other kids schools to tell them what had happened.
The EMT's arrived after a bit and then some people from my Urangan school showed up to make sure everything was okay. A few minutes later a new bus driver came, Bob the bus driver had had a partial stroke.
We were all taken to school and Ash and I were pulled out of class for dealing with the situation because we were the only two that had done anything. Later that morning a newspaper columnist came by and took our story so we could have a story in the newspaper.
Apparently Ash and I did really well and a lot of people are proud of us, but we don't feel like 'hero's' as they put it. We were just two kids who took ahold of the situation, it has been an interesting day and I hope if something like this every happens to anyone they take initiative.
xx Mckenna.
Well done McKenna. We're really proud of you.
